Foster City Lagoon House

The Lagoon House is located in a unique waterside community on the San Francisco Bay in the Bay Area. The symmetry and positioning on the lagoon suggests a civic gesture that brings to mind a Greek temple on a point because the design intent for the house is to be the focal point when viewed from the neighboring houses or passing watercraft. The house sits on a raised terrace, the perfect perch with the best waterfront view—to see and be seen. The site fans out to a broad rear façade where the house is canted slightly to face across the lagoon at its widest point for a longest view possible. Extensive red cedar trellises suspended under white painted rectangular streel tube beams protect the home from direct sunlight. The minimalistic white interiors allow the water view to be the main focus. Ceiling are painted with high-gloss lacquer to reflect the daylight bouncing off the water and give the interior a luminous Character. #robertnebolonarchitects #criticalregionalism
