Robert Nebolon possesses a deep understanding of architectural design and sustainability and place-making. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the renowned University of California, Berkeley in 1982, and a Masters in Architecture from the distinguished University of Washington, Seattle in 1985. Having grown up in the South Bay/Los Angeles Beach coastal communities of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach, Robert Nebolon's formative years were shaped by the relaxed Southern California coastal lifestyle, reflected in the ranch house/Mexican-Spanish design and the modern architecture of Los Angeles.

At UC Berkeley, Robert Nebolon learned of the Bay Area Regional Style which merges local building solutions with modern architecture, strong consideration of the context, eco-systems & sustainability, and strong consideration of context.  At University of Washington, Robert Nebolon studied further into placemaking. the effort to create joyful and vibrant spaces that look to site specificity, site context, and thoughtful integration between structure and topography and the people who will inhabit the spaces..

With his Architect license obtained in 1988, and after working at other architectural firms, Robert Nebolon established his architectural firm, Robert Nebolon Architects (RNA), in Berkeley, California in 1993.  The mission of RNA was and continues to be exploring Critical Regionalism: providing contemporary site-sensitive warm modern architecture that considers local and international thoughts and cultures as viable solution sources.
